Summary: |

The Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) is a federal aid assistance program established to help states provide outdoor recreation facilities. The program provides up to 50% reimbursement funds for acquisition and development of outdoor recreation projects. In South Dakota, the LWCF is administered by the SD Game, Fish & Parks Department. The Parks and Recreation Department is currently working with TrailArts for trail design and construction in the Skyline Wilderness Area. In addition, the City recently signed a contract for design services for development of trailheads and parking areas as well as other improvements to Dinosaur Park. Funding from the LWCF would enable the City to continue to update and improve Dinosaur Park for the citizens of Rapid City as well as the many tourists who travel through the area. |
